Ribbon cable FAQ
01What is IDC and why use it for ribbon?
IDC = Insulation-Displacement Contact. The connector blade slices through the insulation to make contact, eliminating strip/crimp steps. Faster, more repeatable, ideal for high-count ribbon.
02Can you twist pairs inside the ribbon?
Yes — twisted-pair ribbon is a special variant where pairs of conductors are twisted together for EMI reduction. Common in legacy SCSI and industrial signaling.
03Do you support mixed-color or custom color sequences?
Standard is EIA-359 rainbow (brown = pin 1 → black = pin 10, then repeats). For custom sequences, minimum order typically 500 m. All-grey and all-white ribbons are in-stock.
04Minimum order quantity?
No MOQ — we build prototype ribbons in qty 1. Standard colors, standard pitch, standard connectors typically ship in 3–5 days.
